Purple Haze is a compact butterfly bush with a low, spreading habit, about two to three feet, sending its purple-blue flower spikes outward in gentle arcs rather than straight up. The blooms run from summer to frost and stay busy with butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

Full sun and well-drained soil are the requirements; it is drought tolerant once rooted in, and deer skip it. At this size it fits front-of-border spots and big containers that full-size buddleias outgrow. Cut it back by half in early spring to keep it dense.
