About this plant
The oakleaf hydrangea is Alabama's own, our state wildflower, native to woodlands just like the ones around Birmingham. White early-summer panicles age to rose, and the bold oak-shaped leaves turn deep burgundy in fall, with cinnamon peeling bark for winter.
Four true seasons of interest, and tougher and more drought-tolerant than any bigleaf once established.
