Woolly thyme is a creeping thyme with tiny, fuzzy gray-green leaves that knit into a soft, silvery mat barely an inch tall. Part of the Toe Ticklers line, it fills paver joints and drapes over wall edges, and in spring it is dotted with small violet flowers that draw bees.

It asks for full sun and fast-draining, even gravelly soil; drought, rocky ground, deer, and rabbits do not faze it. Skip rich soil and heavy watering. It takes light foot traffic and rewards a passing brush of the hand with a whiff of thyme.
