Plant strawberries in March or April to harvest by early summer, or wait until fall for a second chance at fruit before cold arrives. A quart container gives you enough to start a small bed or tuck into a sunny spot with good drainage.

They'll produce steadily through the warm months if you keep them watered and pinch off runners unless you want new plants. Afternoon shade helps in the heat of July and August.
