About this plant
‘Krauter Vesuvius’ is the darkest of the purple-leaf plums: black-purple foliage all season behind a froth of light pink bloom in earliest spring, on a compact tree around 15–20 feet.
Full sun keeps the leaf color saturated; well-drained soil keeps it healthy. Use it as a color accent against lighter greens or brick, in front-yard scale plantings and drives.
