Double Dynamite is a crape myrtle with fully double blooms, each summer cluster packed with ruffled purple flowers that read fuller and richer than the usual single-flowered types. Smooth bark and glossy green leaves carry it between flushes, and it stays well under the big tree-form crapes, suited to smaller yards and bed corners.
The more sun it gets, the more it blooms, so give it an open spot in well-drained soil. Butterflies and hummingbirds visit through its summer season. Prune lightly in late winter if needed; hard topping isn't necessary.
